As a Governor of Silvertsone CE Primary we have a resonsibility to challenge and support the strategic direction of the school and ensure high stanards are maintained across all aspects of the school.  Being a Governor involves visiting the school on a regular basis; either attending committee meetings or visiting during the day to talk to the staff and children.

Our Governoring Body consists of 11 members:

Lisa Baldwin:

As a governor with a background in marketing and PR I am able to call on my professional experience to support the school particularly with communications.  After working at a senior marketing level for several large corporations and having spent time working overseas I now run my own company to give me the flexibility to look after my two young sons.  I am passionate about community and playing a part to ensure that all children receive the emotional support and resources they need to thrive at school.

Declaration of Interest: None

James Bloomfield:

I joined Silverstone CE Primary School in January 2016 and feel extremely privileged to be Headteacher of this wonderful school, especially at a time of significant change as the Infant and Junior Schools merge and move into a new setting. After graduating at Bishop Grosseteste College, Lincoln, my teaching career has spanned over 18 years; during which time I have worked in 5 schools before joining Silverstone CE Primary. I am passionate about working with children and making a positive difference to their lives. As a Senior Leader in my previous 3 schools I have a wealth of experience which I hope to share with the staff and pupils at Silverstone as we embark on our exciting journey in developing a school we can all be extremely proud of.

Family is important to me and I have two wonderful daughters of school age. My wife also works in education, which helps us both to understand the pressures we face and to appreciate the joys we encounter in school.

Declaration of Interest: None

Peter Coles:

I am a Foundation Governor and Churchwarden St. Michael’s Church. My background is farming and I have a long association with Silverstone Village. My Two sons both attended the Infant and Junior Schools. At that time I was chairman of Silverstone Infant School.

Declaration of Interest: None

Marie Falvey:

I have lived in Towcester for the past thirteen years, am married and have four children. Having taught in Silverstone C.E. Primary School over the past twelve years I am now delighted to represent the teaching staff as Teacher Governor. I am particularly interested in the Curriculum area.

Declaration of Interest: None

Martin Hall:

I started my career as a teacher of Maths and IT, before joining my current company who provide educational solutions to schools, where I have been for over 20 years.

I have been on the Governing Body since my son first joined the school 10 years ago and have been Chair for the last few years. My daughter left Silverstone recently and has now moved onto Sponne.

I am passionate about Education and how it can improve children’s lives in the academic and life skills field. I believe Education is not just about Maths and English results but about a wider sense of community and belonging.

I am a keen squash player and play and coach in Brackley. I have lived in Silverstone for over 15 years and have very much enjoyed my time in the village.

As well as Chair of the Governing Body I also Chair the Resources Committee and have been trained on Performance Management.

Declaration of Interest: Employed by RM who supply software and services to schools

Carolyn Lovell:

I have lived in Silverstone for 40 years during which time I was Deputy Headteacher of the infant school for 28 years. My daughters both went through the local state education system and presently I have 2 grandchildren at our village school. Since my retirement 9 years ago I have had the opportunity to expand my experience through my Special Education Needs qualification in local secondary schools. Working with teenagers has been both interesting and enriching. I continue to volunteer at the school weekly, usually in FS2, so am able to get to know all the new entrants as they join us as. This gives me a great deal of pleasure, particularly as in recent years I have seen a growing number of second generation children being able to stay in the community. I also sit on School Appeals panels for both Northamptonshire and Milton Keynes which keeps abreast of the changing financial and logistical pressures of providing high quality learning environments and experiences for all our children. I feel privileged to be a part of the team during this exciting period of change in the education of all pupils at Silverstone CE Primary School and endeavour to bring my range of experience to this complex task.

Declaration of Interest: Registered as supply teacher at Silvertsone CE Primary

Anita Measey:

I am currently the KS1 Year 2 class teacher.  I think it is a very exciting time to be on the Silverstone CE Primary School governing body.  This is my 30th year of teaching professionally and I feel privileged to have taught every Primary year group over that time.  I graduated with an honours degree in Archaeology from Southampton University in 1986 and then completed a PGCE at Nene College (now Northampton University).  I taught at schools in Hampshire and Surrey and was an acting Deputy Head, before I decided to have children and take a career break.  I have worked at the Silverstone schools for 14 years, as a PPA cover teacher and also, as a part-time class teacher.  I am married to Julian; our son is now 21 and our daughter 18, so I have time to fully embrace my career again.  I am currently RE, Worship and Science Coordinator and am excited about leading the school in these areas, as we move to our new school building.  Outside school, my hobbies include interior design, being a member of a book club and improving my piano playing.

Declaration of Interest: None

Lucy Mills:

Having been an active member of the village community of Silverstone for more than 20 years, I have been involved with many local events. Highlights include, playing alongside the children of Silverstone Infants and Primary schools as the White Witch in the Silverstone Amateur Dramatics' production of 'The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe', and being on the organising committee for 'Silverbury', a local music festival.

I have served on both the Silverstone Parish Council and on St. Michael's Parochial Church Council and continue to be involved with both Anglican and Methodist churches in Silverstone.

While my three daughters have grown up happily in Silverstone, I have worked from home on consultancy projects for professional services firms.

I am passionate about inspiring young people to achieve excellence and creating environments in which they can flourish.

Declaration of Interest: Self employed professional services business consultant trading as Remark Research and Marketing.

Carol Tosh:

"A native of Scotland, I have been a teacher, Headteacher and School Improvement Advisor all my professional life.  I joined the governing body just as I was about to take early retirement and have tried to use my professional expertise for the good of the Silverstone Federation (now Silverstone CE Primary School).

I chair the Curriculum and Standards Committee and serve on the Resources and Performance Management Committee, too.  Education has been my 'reason d'etre' for nearly 50 years and I feel privileged to be part of the school team.

My own two children attended the local Silverstone schools and they have, in turn, brought into the world 4 lovely grandchildren.  My long suffering husband has finally realised his dream of being able to take holidays in school term time!"
