Year 3
Class Names
Owls – Mrs Coombs
School Day
| Doors opens at | 8:40 am |
| Register | 8:40 am - 8:55 am |
Children who arrive after 8:45 am but before 9:15 am will be marked as 'Late' (L) whilst the register is open. This will not affect the attendance percentage but persistent lateness will lead to parents meeting with senior leaders to discuss possible support and find solutions to prevent further lateness. Failure to improve lateness may lead to parents been reported to the Local Authority Attendance Team.
Children who arrive after 9:15 am (All year groups) will be marked as 'Late' (U) after the register has closed. This will count against the attendance rate. Persistent lateness after 9:15 am will raise safeguarding concerns and further actions will be taken to support the parents to improve the attendance rate. Parents will be reported to the Local Authority Attendance Team who may have direct involvement with parents.
Communication with the Team
- Morning communications when children arrive must be brief (teachers are busy starting lessons). If needed, hand over a written note to provide more detail and we can phone you during the day.
- Teachers are usually available at the end of each day for a short chat if needed.
- Alternatively send an email to office@silverstone.pdet.org.uk and this will be forwarded to Mrs Coombs
PE Days
| Tuesday and Friday | Children in Key Stage 2 will get changed for their PE lesson at school. Children can either leave their PE kit in school or take it home at the end of PE days or as requested by parents. |

Equipment
- Water bottle (named)
- Pencil case (with required equipment)
- Packed lunch bag
- Small bag to carry homework
Due to very small cloakrooms it is helpful if children only bring a small bag into school.
We expect all KS2 children to take responsibility for their own belongings. Children must ensure they have the correct equipment in their pencil case every day. It is a good habit to check school bags every evening, ready for the following day.
Homework
Reading
- It is expected that your child reads at home at least 3 times a week for around 10 minutes with an adult.
- Best practice is for the child to read their 'Accelerated Reader' text to an adult. This helps to develop reading fluency, an understanding of unfamiliar vocabulary and develops comprehension skills when asking/answering questions related to their book.
- Record any reading at home in your child’s school reading diary.
Spelling
- Sent home on Tuesday.
- Practise the weekly spellings throughout the week.
- Return the folder to school every Monday.
Maths
- The children will either be given a times table worksheet or be expected to log into TT Rock Stars.
- Sent home on Friday.
- Return to school on Thursday.
- We regularly monitor throughout the term when children are login into TT Rock Stars.
- Children will be expected to complete the times table worksheet during a lunchtime if not completed at home.
- See tab below 'Learning Times Tables' for more information.
